I have been lucky enough to participate in the Straight to Hell by Michelle Scott blog tour. I have two books to review and an author interview which is so exciting as I've never been part of it before.
The summary : The moment Lilith Straight dies, the Devil appears to claim her soul and
cash in on a longtime family curse. Now, Lilith has no choice but to
work for him. The job is bad, the boss is worse, and she can't imagine
how she'll explain her new reincarnation to her eight-year-old daughter.
But then an arrogant, yet oh so yummy, incubus shows up...and hell
heats up just a little more.
This book is really interesting and different to anything I have ever read before. It's an adult books with very adult themes so I wouldn't suggest it for any of my younger followers, but It is definitely a good fun read.In fact the humor and the characters are the best thing about this book.
Let's talk about Lilith- Lilith is a struggling 30-something woman looking after her own daughter, niece and sister after a messy break up and a house fire that left her with barely anything. She is a trooper though, even when she dies, someone close to her dies and finds out she has to become a succubus she's still a trooper which is something you don't often find. I mean sure she has her weak moments but she carries on.
I liked the other characters in the book as well. They're well developed. William, the incubus is sexy as hell but he has lots of flaws that make you understand he really is human (didn't like the name choice though William Darcy? Come on). Her sister is flawed but cares. Tommy is an amazing guy who I'd love to be my friend. He's so cool, with his tattoo's piercing and heart of gold. Ariel is such a tough chick and Lilith's daughter is a sweetheart.
The downside of this book is I think that it could have been sexier. For a succubus Lilith doesn't do a lot of seduction or have a lot of sex but she is such a good character and a mother so it is understandable, and I love her inner turmoil over the whole situation, You really feel what she feels. I would recommend this book as a light summer reads.
